About Olivia Yang Cakes.

It all started when Olivia began to teach herself to decorate cakes as a stress reliever while finishing a BSc. Degree, using it as therapy until cake decorating eventually became the Yin to her “Yang”.

After graduating, Olivia spent two years learning new techniques from master artisans all over the world such as Maggie Austin, Jasmine Rae, and Bobo Chen, while working as a full-time cake designer at a custom cake studio based in Toronto.

In 2017 and 2018, she traveled to the U.K. to participate in the world’s largest international cake competition, Cake International, and was awarded silver in the small decorative exhibit category with a Winnie-the-Pooh themed storybook cake, and took home 1 of only 20 gold awards in the highly competitive wedding cake category that matched her ancient Chinese outfit inspired wedding cake up with over 300 plus cakes.

In July 2018, Olivia decided to go off on her own and launched her own cake studio, Olivia Yang Cakes, focusing mainly on creating custom wedding cakes with her unique designs. Since then, Olivia has worked with many wedding vendors and has had her cakes featured online and in magazines such as the Bridal Affair, Weddingbells, and Today’s Bride. She has also been collaborating with Love by Lynzie on the Pop-Up Chapel by designing and providing wedding cakes for couples who are looking to tie the knot in a unique and affordable fashion.

Olivia specializes in crafting sugar flowers, detailed sugar decorations and interesting colour palette (she LOVES muted colours) and is constantly experimenting with her designs to ensure that her couples have a truly one-of-a-kind wedding cake on their special day.
